Together, always.
« Family is our oxygen. Everyone has their place, we are happy. I am so proud of the road we have travelled. »
Heard in the film
« On paper, everything sets us apart. » Their words, in the film. Alfred was born in Lebanon, where he grew up until he was thirteen; for him, marriage was never an option, it is an accomplishment, a commitment you hold until the end. Justine, after thirteen years of life together, admits with a smile that she had almost given up on it. On 25 May 2024, at Château du Parc Saint-Lambert, he proved her wrong.
Their meeting was a happy accident: a friend of Justine’s who went to study in Australia, at the same university as Alfred, a Facebook status they both commented on, and a conversation that never stopped. The first time they met in person was at the go-kart track where Justine worked. Alfred sat down at the counter and watched her work all evening, before sending her a message she read in the middle of her shift: « You are very beautiful. »
Life then reshuffled their plans: when Justine’s endometriosis was diagnosed, they were advised not to wait to have a child. Romy arrived a little earlier than planned, and on the wedding day, she is the one who leads her mum’s procession.
The editing of their film, however, took its time, and we like to tell why. The party had pulsed to Lebanese music, so our first cuts of the film did too. Yet something bothered us: neither Alfred nor Justine had mentioned Lebanon while preparing the wedding. After a month of hesitation, we called them. The Lebanese songs had been a surprise from the guests, slipped to the DJ; they had wanted a French wedding. We rewrote the entire soundtrack. Knowing a couple well also means this: never assuming their story, and checking it with them.
« We do everything together, always together »: the title of the film was already in their words. And at the end, this line from Justine that we kept to sum up their story: « Family is our oxygen. »
Our angle
Two people who seem to have nothing in common, an incredible charisma, which we went through to reach deeper thoughts.
