It's Only You
« If you see this message, I want everyone to know: there is you, there's only you. »
Heard in the film
Serge and Cesca’s film opens with a message addressed to the future. A text Serge wrote and reads for the woman he loves, but also for their future children, their grandchildren, perhaps a stranger who will watch these images in a hundred years: « If you see this message: there is you, there’s only you. » We spend our days explaining why a wedding film is still watched twenty years on; that day, someone said it better than we ever could.
The official story, the one Cesca tells everyone, begins in a salsa bar. The real one, Serge admits with a smile in the film: a dating app. Serge comes from Côte d’Ivoire, they met in London, and their next chapter is being written in Denmark: their life crosses borders. On 12 July 2025, it settled for a day in Anjou, at Château de la Lorie, in the Loire Valley.
In front of their loved ones, Cesca began her speech by promising not to cry, and failed at the very first sentence, as one should. What she said next fits in a single line: « You make everything in life a million times better. »
An international wedding, a film in English, an emotion that needs no translation: « It’s Only You » is their promise, engraved in time.
